What Is It

Yes, aging is a medical condition. The sooner we start treating it as such, the sooner we can start devoting more resources towards solving it.

What Causes It

Describe the underlying physiology of the condition and any known environmental or behavioral causes.

Treatments / Applicable Biohacks

Conventional Treatments

If you went to an average western medicine doctor, what would they prescribe to treat it? Drugs, physical therapy, behaviors, etc.

Supplements

  • Tocotrienols combined with quercetin can induce senescence and promote cell death in cancer cells while doing the reverse for healthy cells [1]

Anecdotes

Name - Herve

Experience with the issue -  ' Absolutely. So since I've been 21 I've been going in the traditional dry sauna almost religiously on a daily basis. I had long periods in my life where I would binge on sugary food at night in my early 20s, and then follow it with not eating for the majority of the day -- a really unhealthy habit. But I never really "fasted". I would always eat every 2-3 hours most of my 20's and followed what people would consider a bodybuilding diet. I always ate large salads multiple times a day to get my veggies and fiber. Typically avoided processed food for the most part, but would have some relapses from time to time. I always took a multi vitamin. In my 30's, I added in probiotics, vitamin D and fish oil. I noticed it would be very difficult for me to get my vitamin D up beyond 45ng or so. This past two years I really made a concerted effort to reduce stress in my life. I wrote on my fridge "if it is going to cause me mental stress, I am not going to do it", and looked at it every morning. I started fasting between 12-18 hours most days instead of eating every 2 hours like I used to. Whereas I was always taking probiotics the past 10 or so years, I just started with prebiotics the past year, and I think that has helped considerably. I take PHGG, FOS, and GOS by recommendation of Dr. Kelly Divan. I also consume at least one cold baked potato either daily or every other day for resistant starch. I upped my Omega 3 intake to around 8000-10,000mg daily (I'm 190lbs). I've also kept my bodyfat between 8-12% and dont let it go above 14-15% without bringing it back down. In the past 2 years I've added Gene Formulas Resveratrol and NMN, and I started taking TA-65 2 months ago. 90% of the time I limit my alcohol intake to no more than 2-3 drinks when I do have alcohol (and I take NAC, Magnesium, Liposomal C, and Milk Thistle if I'm going to drink more- on vacations etc). 3-4 months ago I started experimenting with Intravenous NAD injections as well and I think that did a little something. I follow a low carb high fat, high fiber diet most of the time now, and if I deviate from it its only on Saturday/Sunday. I do spirulina/chlorella daily, adaptogenic mushroom blends like Reishi/Shilajit/Chaga/Shitake/Maitake/Turkey Tail. I make sure I get at least 150mcg Iodine daily for my thyroid, either from taking Sea Moss/Bladderwrack/Burdock together, or NOW foods Kelp. I try to consume sea vegetables when I can as well. I get regular bloodwork every 6 months to see what's going on under the hood, and try to make sure I correct anything that looks a little out of whack. I pay more attention to my sleep quality and recovery and own a WHOOP strap. If my recovery is low I don’t workout on those days. (As I remember more things I will add to this post via edits). The past few years I’ve also been paying particular attention to my Vitamin K1/K2 intake. In the mornings when I wake up (after my hibiscus tea) I usually have a micronutrient smoothie for my first meal kale, parsley, spinach, dandelion, rainbow chard, ground flaxseed, chia seed, collagen protein powder, plant protein, blueberries and flax milk. I also go to the Asian market and get 30 days worth of Natto and try to eat one packet of it daily for my K2. I just got a full body scan last week to test for tumors in all my organs, coronary calcium score, etc. The catch 22 with the NAD treatments is that if you have cancer/tumors it can speed up the growth of those as well, so I am just doing the scan as a further preventative measure. I’m a big proponent of trying to catch things at stage 1-2 rather than wait until it’s stage 4-5. Treatment History - What did you try? What worked? What didn't?
