  2. It is/should be really painful
  3. It's done mostly on the back, on a bed
  4. You should have an induction after 41 weeks
  5. You need to regularly check cervical dilation (via vaginal exams)
  6. You should not eat, or drink during labor
  7. You need an IV
  8. You should be continuously monitoring fetal heart rate (during labor)
  9. You should progress (ie. dilate) at a rate of 1cm per hour
  10. You need to push.
    1. When you feel like you need to push, instead just breathe, rely on the fetal ejection reflex. Reduces risk of tearing.
  11. Someone needs to coach you on pushing: "Okay, 1-2-3, PUSH!, etc."
  12. Epidurals are great, and make everything so much easier/better.
  13. You should have an ultrasound every week or so towards the end of pregnancy
  14. If the baby is breach, you need to have a c-section
  15. You can't have a vaginal birth if you've ever had a c-section brith
  16. You have to do what the doctor/nurse tells you.
